The vineyard for Domaine Georg Rafael is located just north-west of the town of Napa in the Dry Creek district of the Napa Valley. The hillside location starts at 100 foot elevation and rises dramatically to about 600 feet at the top. The lower section is planted with Chardonnay and the upper section with Cabernet Sauvignon. The soils are primarily silty loam.

A DREAM COMES TRUE...
In July of 1981 Georg Rafael turned his dream of owning a vineyard into reality and bought 25 acres of land within the Appellation Mount Veeder, a distinct viticultural area within Napa Valley, California. He planted rootstocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay and grew the wine grapes with a lot of patience, care and attention. Georg Rafael Vineyards was born.

QUALITY
Over the years, the most prestigious wineries of Napa Valley, Mondavi, Far Niente, Duckhorn, Kendall-Jackson, just to name a few, recognised the excellent quality of Rafael’s grapes and since the beginning have been buying the entire harvest, except for a few tons of grapes that are crushed in his own winery.

TROIS AMIS WINERY
Trois Amis Winery was built in 1995, when Georg Rafael decided to turn his passion into business and make his own wine. His two longstanding friends, Frank Farella and Tom Elke, vineyard owners and wine producers themselves, became his partners in this venture. Tom Farella, Frank’s son, a Davis Enology Graduate of the University of California, accepted to become the winemaker for all three wine labels.
